Cyberpunk 2077 may not be released on Nintendo Switch

CD Projekt Red has substantiated its upcoming sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will possibly not be coming to Nintendo Switch.

In a wide-ranging meeting with Gamespot, CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais told that while the team hadn’t even deemed a game like the Witcher 3 “would be feasible on Switch”, it was uncertain its upcoming RPG would also move over to Nintendo Switch.

Who would have believed a game like The Witcher 3 would be apparent on Switch, so who knows?” Mama told.

Mamas also opened up on his impressions about microtransactions and if or not the studio’s generous DLC program for The Witcher 3 might be duplicated for Cyberpunk 2077.

“I think it is a bad idea to do microtransactions after you publish a game,” he said. “It seems like it is very efficient, though. It is probably a hard judgment for the guy that runs the industry to decide if we should perform it or not.

But if everyone dislikes it, why would we do anything like that and lose the goodwill of our consumers? The Witcher 3’s free DLC with huge paid expansions] was aa nice model for us; it worked fine for The Witcher 3,” he expanded, talking about other aspects of downloadable content.

“I do not see why we would not try to replicate that model with Cyberpunk 2077. We are not talking about that yet, but it appears like that would be the smart path to go.”

What fascinates us about this port is just how demanding it is for the Switch hardware on just nearly every level:

its CPU and memory bandwidth regulations push the current-gen consoles – and not like the Doom and Wolfenstein modifications, Saber Interactive could not drop frame-rate from 60fps to 30fps,”
