Yup! There is no consensus. Unless “tomorrow” is Friday, and then “next Friday” is pretty clear, you’re better of being specific. However, today (Dec 24) if you said “this coming Friday” there is NO doubt that you mean Dec 28. If you said “next Friday” it could mean Dec 28 or the first one in January.
Which is correct in Friday morning or on Friday morning?
We use ‘on’ with date, for example, on Friday. However, some other people say #2 is correct because whichever comes in front of morning, it doesn’t affect ‘morning’. Therefore, it’s still used ‘in’. Is there a consensus on Next Friday or coming Friday?
After reading the previous posts, I came to the conclusion that there is NO consensus. Next Friday means different things for different people, even native speakers. There are even contradicting claims on what is the majority’s interpretation among the British. And for some people, it also depends on which day of the week when it is spoken.
