The moment she fell, Christie Brinkley knew that she had had to quit “Dancing with the Stars”. “The moment I fell on the floor, I could feel the shards in my arm,” Brinkley, aged 65, told reporters in between sobs. “Like, I could feel it in my wrist, and I just immediately looked up and stated, ‘I’m so sorry, I just broke my arm.’”
The retired supermodel said that her bone was just facing the opposite direction and that it had just shattered into a thousand little pieces, just a million of little pieces.
Brinkley fell last Thursday and underwent surgery on Friday to surgically insert a plate and screws to repair her broken arm. She had also dislocated her wrist.
She told the reporters she prevails on heavy painkillers to help her manage her pain but is nevertheless learning to cope with the emotional fallout.

“I am telling you that I was just having the time of my life,” she continued saying.
“So it was a crushing, crushing regret in every way. Figuratively everything that happened. And one of the worst feelings in the world is to feel like that you are letting anybody down, you know?”
But to keep everything in the family, the show has announced that Brinkley will be replaced by her daughter.
Brinkley found the silver lining in having her daughter, Sailor Brinkley Cook, substitute her on the 28th season of the dance competition show.
“My friends out there that have been very, very supportive, and that feeling of letting people down, is just awful,” she shared. “So I thought, I have to find a silver lining here. And I immediately thought, because of the personal nature of the song and everything, it is gotta be one of my daughters.”
She added, “They popped her into my costumes. They fit her perfectly.”
