Sandra Bullock Was Offered The Role Of ‘Neo’ Before Keanu Reeves In ‘The Matrix,’ Details Inside

The makers of ‘The Matrix’ have unveiled that Neo could have been a woman if Sandra Bullock had not turned down the role.

Warner Brothers had allegedly demanded that the part should transpire to an A-lister, owing to the fact that the Wachowskis had only directed a single film ‘ 1996 Bound prior to the movie.

The matrix will complete 20 years after its release in 1999 this year and the film’s producer has revealed that there were far more than just two option for the role. Several A list actors including Brad Pitt, Will Smith, and even Leonardo Dicaprio were considered for the part.

We went out to so many people I don’t remember. We were getting desperate. We went to SandyBullock and said ‘We’ll change Neo to a girl.’ (Producer) Joel Silver and I worked with Sandy on Demolition Man and she was and continues to be a very good friend of mine,” said Di Bonaventura.

It was pretty simple. We sent her the script to see if she was interested in it. And if she was

interested in it we would try to make the change, however, it just wasn’t for her at that time so it did not go anywhere.
