The Russia corona vaccine is supposedly the first one to have been developed and passed through human clinical trials. The media has reported that the results are quite impressive. The world is now seeing more than 30 million people being affected by the coronavirus and the number of deaths has crossed 570,000.
World’s different scientists and Pharmaceutical companies are putting their highest effort into inventing a vaccine which can help the people in this pandemic with no more delay. Britain, US, Israel, China, Russia, India are among 100 countries that are putting tireless effort and at encouraging development stages for the discovery of the coronavirus vaccine. The World Health Organisation (WHO) said that there are 21 coronavirus vaccine trials going on around the world.
Potential coronavirus vaccines
There are many companies like AstraZeneca, Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Moderna, CanSino Biologics, Sinovac, BioNTech and Novavax who are now competing to invent the much-needed coronavirus vaccine. There is China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) and Sinovac Biotech of China who are now at an advanced development stage of vaccine trials. AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine trials are also at phase III.
Russia corona vaccine passes human trails
Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University has accomplished the first-ever human trials on volunteers for the Covid-19 vaccine. The Translational Medicine and Biotechnology department’s director of the University, Vadim Tarasov informed Sputnik that they would release the first batch of the volunteers on Wednesday and the second group would be released on July 20. Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology manufactured the Russia corona vaccine and the university started the clinical testing process from June 18.
Tarasov said that Sechenov First Moscow State University has accomplished the first-ever clinical testing of the coronavirus vaccine on human volunteers.
CanSino, a Chinese company is getting ready for phase III of experiment around overseas
CanSino Biologics’ co-founder said that they were discussing with Saudi Arabia, Russia, Chile, and Brazil about possibilities of launching the phase III of the clinical experiment of the coronavirus vaccine. It is Chinese Company that is trying to develop the coronavirus vaccine.
There are only a few countries that gave green signals for this human trial. China has been very successful in slowing down the coronavirus infections in their country but that fact itself is not letting them conduct a huge amount of experimental trials. CanSino’s executive director who is also the co-founder of the company addressed a conference about antiviral drug development. It was held in Suzhou, east region China. He said that the company was reaching many countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and Chile for phase III of the experimental trials.
He said that phase III of the experimental trial was probably going to have a kick start soon enough. There are recruitments of 40,000 volunteers going on. Ad5-nCov is a vaccine developed for treating coronavirus patients in China. The country went to human trials in March itself. The results have not been quite progressive. The other vaccine trial results surpassed the Chinese efforts. China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) and Sinovac got the approval of phase III trials for their vaccine.
Indian health officials permits to use a restricted dose of Itolizumab for coronavirus
The health regulations of India gave approval to Itolizumab for the emergency treatment of COVID-19 infections. This drug is for the cure of the skin disease psoriasis. Doctors are using Itolizumab to treat severe and even moderate respiratory inflammation.
The parliamentary committee of India informed that there will be no coronavirus vaccine until first quarter of 2021. The standing committee on science and technology, India said that in spite of high expectations, the country couldn’t produce a vaccine for the COVID-19 pandemic till the first quarter of 2021.
India’s health authorities said that this was the shortest time period that they could predict to come up with a vaccine to fight this pandemic.
The Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) said that India is almost at the verge of making a coronavirus vaccine and people can have it by August 15, 2020. India’s reputed institution had to face criticism for their impractical approach. Then ICMR gave clarifications saying that they wanted to eliminate the wait time without hindering mandatory procedure. The statement was only to accelerate the participation of the volunteers for trials.
Lakshmi Mittal sponsored Oxford vaccine experiment with 3.5 million pounds
ArcelorMittal’s CEO Lakshmi Mittal and the Honcho’s family gave 3.5 million pound sponsorship to Oxford University. The university is now developing a coronavirus vaccine with impressive results. The money is going to fund the vaccinology professorship involved in the remarkable research at the university.
Remdesivir decreases the possibility of death
Gilead Sciences Inc told that latest research results were showing a lesser amount of deaths due to use of Remdesivir for treating the coronavirus patients. The critically ill patient’s health conditions are also getting better with the dosage of Remdesivir. This discovery is yet to be confirmed with more research according to the company’s data. The company issued the report about the results from the trial in April.
Medical practitioners found Remdesivir a very effective drug in this virus. The drug accelerates the recovery period of coronavirus infected patients during the trial process . The usage of Remdesivir was constantly monitored.
The drug got approval from many countries for the emergency coronavirus patients though there lies unavailability of this drug in the market. The testing suggested inhaling Remdesivir for cure of severely ill patients.
Tuberculosis vaccine lowers the risk of deaths of coronavirus patients
There is a study saying that tuberculosis vaccines have constituents to decrease the risk of deaths due to COVID-19. An online journal named Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America said that New York, Florida, Illinois and Louisiana are facing massive number of deaths while in Latin America – Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro São Paulo, Pernambuco in Brazil are now having a comparatively lesser amount of fatalities due to coronavirus infection.
Pharmaceuticals company competes: US program funded Novavax 1.6 billion USD
US program Operation Warp Speed (OWS) gave 1.6 billion USD to Novavax to put into research and produce a vaccine that can help the United States to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. The company targets to produce doses of 100 million until January 2021.
Novavax is giving tough competition to other companies in the race of discovering coronavirus vaccines worldwide. Operation Warp Speed’s list of finalists did not even have Novavax’s name earlier. That list consisted of names like Pfizer Inc, Merck & Co. , AstraZeneca, J&J, and Moderna.
Britain on way to close a deal of 500 million pound for GSK/Sanofi coronavirus vaccine
The Sunday Times informed that Britain is on its way to finalizing a deal of 500 million pounds. This is for the supply of 60 million doses of coronavirus infection vaccine with giant companies Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline.
The article also said that Britain was contemplating different options. The country wanted to buy a vaccine that got effective results after human trials. Further, the human trials will be taking place in September.
Moderna’s mRNA-1273 covid-19 vaccine
Moderna, a biotechnology establishment based in the United States, discovered a coronavirus vaccine. It is in phase II trial of the experiment. mRNA makes such genetic codes that help to produce proteins in cells and distribute them to different organs of the human body. Moreover, mRNA uses regular biological procedures of the human body to get effective results.
